About this Tour

Dominican Quest will pick you up for a whole day tour directly at your hotel in Juan Dolio/Boca Chica .

You will travel in one of our modern air-conditioned units for a lovely and engaging visit of the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo.

Our expert English speaking tour guide will lead you around the capital describing historical facts and helping you experience the geological splendor and natural beauty of this modern-day metropolis.

The discovery of Santo Domingo starts with a visit to the mysterious "Three Eyes”, a series of spectacular underground caves. Here you can go for a walk along three lagoons with crystal clear water surrounded by suspending columns of stalactites and mounds of stalagmites. The indigenous Taino Indians used these and other caves as sanctuaries for ritual purposes.

From here we will make a quick photo stop in front of the Columbus Lighthouse which was erected in honor of the discoverer of the New World and is the explorer’s final resting place.

We will continue to travel through modern sections of the city that will allow you to appreciate the beauty of its famous oceanfront promenade in front of the Caribbean Sea and some modern buildings such as the Fine Arts Palace, National Theatre, Presidential Palace, and more.

The tour then moves into the Colonial District which embodies the long history of Santo Domingo as a Spanish Colony. Here you will visit the Alcazar de Colon, a beautiful palace built for Christopher Columbus’ son, Diego. Also the first Cathedral in the New World and the National Pantheon which is a mausoleum to honor the most famous heroes in the Dominican History.

Enjoy also a stroll along the historical ‘Calle las Damas’ (The Ladies’ Street), the oldest street of the New World.

Lunch will follow in a cozy restaurant serving typical Dominican food with 1 beverage and coffee.
Your sightseeing trip in Santo Domingo concludes with free time during which you can visit different gift shops and stores selling nearly every Dominican keepsake imaginable.
With our tour you will experience our capital's rich history and the daily life of everyday Dominicans in this Metropolis of approx. 4 millions inhabitants.
